Acupressure
We tend to think of ourselves only as physical beings in the West. In the East, there is a concept that we are actually energetic beings who have attracted matter to give us shape and form. When we think of ourselves in this light, it becomes easy to understand that dysfunction in our body's flow of energy could then be the catalyst in the manifestation of our physical dysfunctions. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), there are pathways of energy in our bodies, called Meridians. When the energy (Chi) is flowing freely through these Meridians, we are healthy; when there is a disruption in the flow of Chi, we manifest physical symptoms. This holistic way of thinking focuses on the root cause of disease/dysfunction, rather than just the manifested symptoms.
Chi is created by the interaction of two complementary, yet opposing forces, Yin and Yang. Chi binds matter and energy together, often being referred to as "energy on the verge of becoming matter, and matter on the verge of becoming energy." It holds all molecules in formation, and because molecules are continually in a state of motion, in all matter (alive or not), they consist of Chi. I will use finger pressure to affect the fascia of specific points along your meridians where there is less resistance as well as a heightened level in the flow of Chi (Acupoints), to affect the flow of energy in your body. When the energy flow is at an optimal level and balanced, your physical body becomes balanced, improving your manifested physical symptoms and restoring equilibrium. |
